The Great Gatsby Gala Fundraiser was a Huge Success in Terrace!

On Saturday Evening, August 27th, The Northwest Community College Banquet room filled up with gorgeous people dressed to the nines, of course in Gatsby Style!

The Cops for Cancer Red Serge Fundraiser gave us a chance to strut our stuff and to help raise money for cancer research and to support children with cancer by sending them to Camp Goodtimes.
As part of this Fundraiser for Cops for Cancer, On September 16th to September 22, Robert Pictou,(in the red suit below) host of the weekday talk show “Open Connection”, will ride along side with many RCMP members and Emergency Services Personnel for the Tour De North bike ride.

This is an 850- kilometer ride from Prince George to Prince Rupert!
The ride will take them 7 days rain or shine, the dedication, time and training these people have put into this is absolutely admirable.

Some highlights from the Gala included a delicious dinner put on by Northwest Community College, a silent auction, and a not so silent auction.

Some of the town celebrities, including our Mayor, Carol Leclerc and the President of the College himself, Ken Burt, were auctioned off to serve tables including drink orders!

That was actually quite amusing! And there were some very high bidders! Way to go!
Our rookie waiters and waitresses did a fantastic job!

The music was fabulous, the guests were gorgeous and the decorations were so beautiful.

We laughed, we danced, we cried.

And most of all we remembered the very reason we were all there. We came together as one to raise money for a cause very near and dear to all of our hearts.

Each and every one of us has been affected in some way by this horrible disease, whether it is a friend or a loved one.

As we watched the happy faces on children at Camp Goodtimes, on the video that was shared that evening, we all had tears in our eyes. Just knowing that those kids had a chance to be reals kids and not have to worry about being sick, even if it was only for a little bit, that was enough to break anyone’s heart.

It was a perfect night to raise some money for a very worthy cause. How much did we raise, I know you are all waiting for it, and I won’t keep you in suspense any longer…

I am so honored to announce that this night made over… $10,500

Way to go Everyone! Hugs to all of you!
